Shortly after you arrive at the Bellagio Hotel to register for the Wayne Gretzky Fantasy Camp, you'll be ushered into a large room containing mountains of NHL-quality gear. Customized for guests and colour-coordinated to match the year's theme, it's an early sign of the incredible lengths organizers go to in replicating the pro hockey experience.
Every attendee is treated to the full pro-hockey experience.
After being fitted for your equipment, you'll be invited to attend the opening reception and wine tasting - your first chance to rub shoulders with NHL alumni, and your last chance to meet, mingle with and size up your opponents before the puck drops.
On day two, you and the other guests will be evaluated on the ice and divided up into teams. Players of every skill level are welcome at the Camp, and the NHLers split their talents among the different squads to ensure a level playing field.
And then the games begin.
Over the next five days, you'll shoot, pass, and trash talk your way through an intense contest against some of the NHL's most diehard fans and distinguished alumni - all in an effort to have your name permanently etched onto the Wayne Gretzky Cup (on display at the Great One's restaurant in downtown Toronto).
From professional trainers and medical rooms to practice sessions and coaches, every essential detail of life in the NHL has been replicated in an effort to create the ultimate fantasy hockey experience. Simply put, it's a week you'll remember for the rest of your life.
And for the diehard hockey fan, there's nothing else like it.
Highlights include:
- Pro-quality gear including home and away jerseys (emblazoned with your name, number and team insignia), a customized stick, gloves, pants, a helmet, home and away socks, plus a collection of smaller items such as laces, tape, and more.
- Your own collection of professionally shot photographs and videos documenting the experience. Videos are streamed online throughout the week so your family can cheer you on from home.
- The chance to attend several receptions and private events, including an autograph signing, memorabilia giveaway and end-of-tournament awards ceremony.
- Framed team photo.
